Parents with children who are eligible for the Ministry of Defence’s Service Pupil Premium (SPP) have until 17 January 2019 to tell their child’s/children’s school(s).
Schools are entitled to receive the SPP if children:
- Have a parent who is serving as a full-time member of the Armed Forces
- Have a parent who has left the Armed Forces but the child was registered as a “service child” at any school in England at any point from January 2011onwards
- Receive a pension under the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme or the War Pensions scheme
- Have a parent who is on full commitment as part of the full time reserve service.
If you are in any doubt that your child is correctly recorded as a service child, particularly if you have recently moved to the area or your child has moved from primary to senior school this year please contact the school as soon as possible.
Only English state schools, academies and free school can claim SPP.
